Leish Blogs

Hi everyone! My name is Aleisha Smith.
I am a qualified nutritionist and personal trainer, currently emplyed with BePure and Eve Wellness.
My hobbies include exercise, socializing with friends and family, reading about nutritional science, helping my parents on their farm, and cooking delicious food. I love the outdoors, and being in amongst nature in the mountains and forests, or a good swim in the ocean.
I grew up on a Sheep & Beef farm in the small town of Culverden, NZ with my older sister, twin sister, Mother, and Father. In 2011, I went to boarding school at Christchurch Girls' High School, NZ followed by attending Otago University, Dunedin.
Looking forward, I am going to continue building my exercise and nutrition knowledge through working with BePure as a Wellness Coordinator. I would also love to travel to Germany, Ireland, Greece, and Croatia. and do a at least a 6 week roadie around Western Australia!
Why Nutrition?
Nutrition education has been a passion of mine as young as 10 years old when I would help my Mum organise and deliver Appetite for Life and Senior Chef courses to the Amuri Community (Hurunui District, NZ). I especially enjoy helping others achieve their goals and the sense of satisfaction that comes with this.
I believe my passion for health, wellbeing, and exercise sparked early in my life as I am fortunate enough to have grown up in a family where healthy food on the table 3 times a day and sporting opportunities was a given. With Dad being a farmer and Mum, a Nurse (and their love and want to raise the healthiest children possible) I was exposed to a variety of sports and a multitude of nutritious meals, with the knowledge of where the food came from and how it positively affected my health, body, and mindset. I knew the importance of eating in moderation and also the difference between 'non-nutritious' and 'nutritious' food and of course... hands-down I noticed the effects of sugar highs as a kid much to my families annoyance... I remember specifically going to one party where I completely pigged out on lollies, potato chips, and chocolate and feeling sick, cloudy and fatigued with acid reflux that night, which was quite an early learning curve around my food choices and the link to overall feeling and health.
On a more serious note, I know that many aren't as lucky to have grown up with this background or may have fallen off the bandwagon a bit when it comes to their health. So I chose to study Human Nutrition as a means to educate those who struggle to gain the concept of the health journey, considering all barriers and backgrounds.
What are your goals?
- For now, my goal is to be consistent at writing blogs.
- Having recovered from reactive arthritis in 2015, my future ambition is to own a business that specializes in clinical conditions such as arthritis, IBS, hypertension, and diabetes. My business will carry out nutrition and exercise screening processes, assessments, education programs and implement appropriate activity and dietary plans.
I also have set personal goals around ways to stress less and take more time out for myself to reassess, reflect, etc.

What fuels you?
Sharing my knowledge, thoughts, and experiences through blogging aims to give readers guidance on what they can do to make their health journey as smooth as possible.
I find answering my friends and family's health-related questions very rewarding and am very open to all feedback; constructive, and positive.
What's Leish Blogs?
Leish Blogs is a little project of mine that I developed on Instagram in December 2018. Its initial purpose was to have as an available source of knowledge which enabled me to log health-related information and refer back to if I needed to answer a question with more depth. Originally called Proactive Provisions, Leish Blogs allows me to share my thoughts, educate, and connect with others globally. As this is the beauty of social media, I will use this to my full advantage.
What's the goal for Leish Blogs?
My primary goal is to gain as much traction as possible, and hope that everyone benefits from the information I share, in some positive way or another.
So have a look around, enjoy it, and I hope some of my posts resonate with you.
P.s. I would love to hear your feedback; both positive and constructive, so feel free to flick me a message.
