Fat

Aleisha Smith

There are various types of fats present in foods, and each fat-containing food contains different portions of good and bad fats.

Many people give fat a bad rep, associating it with weightgain and being unnecessary in the diet. However, fat is so IMPORTANT for the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D,E and K, and also a major energy source. Fat is the most concentrated form of energy in the body (37kJ/g compared to 16-17kJ/g from carbohydrates or protein)

Rather than trying to avoid consuming fat in our diets, we should focus more on consuming beneficial fats (unsaturated fats) and limiting the non beneficial fats (saturated and trans fats) #moderation
